Alejandra Fernandez

Alejandra is the Founder of Flywallet. She is a globetrotter passionate about making travel more accessible for all. When she's not on the road, she's assembling and leading a team of ambitious developers, creatives, and travel lovers to build her vision: an innovative Web3 solution that will make the travel sector more affordable and inclusive for all.

What's your favorite travel destination so far?

It's a tie between Jordan and Mexico. Both have out-of-this-world food, sights, and people!

Why is it so crucial that Fly Wallet gives back to the environment?

We're givers, not takers, so it's always been important that Flywallet creates a positive and lasting impact. We live in a time when companies try harder to monetize sustainable "luxury" experiences than they are to do sustainable travel accessible and common practice. Flywallet is a way to travel sustainably so we can all help leave a world our grandchildren can keep exploring when we're gone.

Are you a morning person or a night person? Why?

A morning person. How I start my day sets the tone for the rest of the day. You begin to be grateful, strong, and productive. You enjoy the marathon that is life.

What was your inspiration for beginning Fly Wallet?

I've always loved to travel, but I always felt a financial blow to my gut when I clicked 'book.' Meanwhile, many people don't even try because they think affording travel is out of their reach. Finally, I realized people needed an easy way to save up for trips. I knew a technology like Flywallet could empower millions of people to book travel responsibly.

What advice would you give founders looking to break into the same space?

Start with why. (Watch Simon Sinek's TED Talk).

Who are some of your biggest influences?

My family. They are all that matters at the end of the day, and I'm always working to make the best out of life.

What is next for Fly Wallet?

Flywallet just got into Expedia Group's first-ever startup accelerator. We will spend the next few months piloting potential partnership opportunities with them and other travel companies from our cohort. Flywallet will be every traveler's consumer wallet, storing funds they've saved to spend on trips and any loyalty travel assets they earn from airlines along the way.

How many sick days have you taken in the past year?

The whole month of October was….rough. It might have been COVID.
